So how are you all doing? Come and give me an update! I'd also like to encourage those of you who haven't used your $150 of imaginary money to buy something! Invest! It's not real money and you can always take it back during January anyway!

(This next bit is a total abuse of my modly powers)
[abuse modly powers]
Also, who invested in Boral along with me? OH YEAH! *gleeful dance*

[/abuse of modly powers]

Come and tell me about your stocks! And your greatest wins and losses and why you think it happened! I'll tell you why Boral went up--they make bricks, and about half of Queensland has been severely damaged by floods. Lots of opportunity for rebuilding.

[personal profile] seperis is going to be busy until next week, so I'll be the one who's around. As always, if you've any questions or comments, feel free to comment or email.

Got a stupid question, I can buy whenever I want to right? Doesn't just have to be on Mondays?

Think Mazda is looking good. :)

MZDAF. Thank you, btw. I could not figure out what they were sharing in, even with looking at different websites. *feels stupid sometimes*

I invested in Boral, but mostly it's just making up for the other stocks that aren't doing so well. I ony have $18 left this month, and I keep dithering between Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and Sappi Ltd (SPP). I want to invest in RBS but I'm worried the banking sector is so volatile that I'll regret it; SPP interests me, and I like paper, and they have a good debt-to-equity ratio for their industry. (Plus, wiht $18 I could actually buy three shares, rather than one RBS share, which just seems silly.)

Or I could wait until next month, add the $18 to the $150, and equally splurge on both. Maybe. It's all very vague and low-pressure at teh moment.

I bought some Boral as I went looking for something in building materials thinking of QLD needing to re-build. This was when the floods were still minor in comparison to what they are now and no lives had been lost, I even made a joke about profiting from the misery of others :/ Feel a bit crappy about that now knowing my shares are going up because people are losing their homes...
I actually reduced my number of boral shares as I had picked 3 to divide my money between then found a fourth - but have not bought the fourth yet as it keeps going up and up and was waiting for it to drop back a bit rather than buy at a peak - now I am actually thinking of buying more boral with the money I have left instead, with the amount that needs re-building, cant see those shares going back down any time soon....

I let Sep know back in Dec that I was purposefully sitting this month out. Though, this is Sep, and as much as I love her, she has slept since then and may or may not have forgot, so... yah, repeating...

Is it cheating to ask you what you think of a stock? Lol! Okay so here's the situation - I bought ROL.AX after reading an article where the writer predicted they would rise 65% over the coming year. They have been on a pretty solid down trend over the last 3 months, it looks to me like they are coming into a pennant with the point at around the $1.70. I think that instead of getting all excited about getting my money into the game, I should have waited to see if it broke up or down from the pennant before I bought. Then if it did break upwards I would have bought at around $1.72, and if it broke down it would possibly continue down to the next support at $1.60 and of course I would know to leave it alone.

I know Jan is free take backs, but I am already buggering around with my bld and I dont want to be a pain! But idealy I would take ROL back for now, and then in a few days once it decides which direction its going in maybe buy it again.

What do you think???

okay, thanks! Take back ROL and the BLD I impulse bought this morning, and I swear I will stop rushing into things from now on! :)

Can they be removed from my market value section but left in my transaction list, so I can see what I've done and down the track assess if I've done the right thing or not - or would that bugger up the spread sheet? Just remove them completely if so :)

Thankyou!

I have some silly questions.
1. I want to buy Yanzhou Coal but it's only available in my local market. I can still buy it, right?
2. If I can, I should do the conversion to US dollars by hand. Is it correct?
3. I want to sell a stock but I'm not quite sure how to input in my transaction record. Right now I just put a negative sign before the amount earned. Is it correct or is there a better way to handle it?
