It's been a bit quiet round here
Jan. 14th, 2011 09:17 amSo how are you all doing? Come and give me an update! I'd also like to encourage those of you who haven't used your $150 of imaginary money to buy something! Invest! It's not real money and you can always take it back during January anyway!
(This next bit is a total abuse of my modly powers)
[abuse modly powers]
Also, who invested in Boral along with me? OH YEAH! *gleeful dance*
[/abuse of modly powers]
Come and tell me about your stocks! And your greatest wins and losses and why you think it happened! I'll tell you why Boral went up--they make bricks, and about half of Queensland has been severely damaged by floods. Lots of opportunity for rebuilding.
seperis is going to be busy until next week, so I'll be the one who's around. As always, if you've any questions or comments, feel free to comment or email.

Date: 2011-01-13 10:52 pm (UTC)As for mazda, it depends on whether you're going to MZDAY (which is secured by ADF notes) or MZDAF. MZDAY is out of the pricerange for this game, but MZDAF isn't. Looks like they were hit pretty hard by the GFC and they're still regaining market share.
Don't forget they're in Euros, so you'll need to do a conversion of the share price as well.

Date: 2011-01-13 10:55 pm (UTC)Or I could wait until next month, add the $18 to the $150, and equally splurge on both. Maybe. It's all very vague and low-pressure at teh moment.

Date: 2011-01-14 12:12 am (UTC)Whereas if you have 200 shares, the share prices only has to go up 5c, which is far more likely. Anything above that is gravy.
It's just something I'm keeping an eye on in preparation for real life stock trading.
And low-pressure is good! I love this playing around with no real money behind it--I'd never take the plunge, otherwise.

Date: 2011-01-13 11:49 pm (UTC)I actually reduced my number of boral shares as I had picked 3 to divide my money between then found a fourth - but have not bought the fourth yet as it keeps going up and up and was waiting for it to drop back a bit rather than buy at a peak - now I am actually thinking of buying more boral with the money I have left instead, with the amount that needs re-building, cant see those shares going back down any time soon....

Date: 2011-01-14 02:10 am (UTC)I know Jan is free take backs, but I am already buggering around with my bld and I dont want to be a pain! But idealy I would take ROL back for now, and then in a few days once it decides which direction its going in maybe buy it again.
What do you think???

Date: 2011-01-14 03:26 am (UTC)Just from a quick click round their website, they seem to have a few lucrative mines. I'd want to do some calculations on the price of gold, etc to see what their potential profit is and see what the debt/equity relationship is. I have heard predictions that the price of gold has peaked, and with the weather at the moment, mines on a coastal island in indonesia make me a bit uneasy :S
I'm happy if you want to take ROL back for now and see what you want to do in a couple of days time.

Date: 2011-01-14 03:36 am (UTC)Can they be removed from my market value section but left in my transaction list, so I can see what I've done and down the track assess if I've done the right thing or not - or would that bugger up the spread sheet? Just remove them completely if so :)
Thankyou!

Date: 2011-01-14 02:48 am (UTC)1. I want to buy Yanzhou Coal but it's only available in my local market. I can still buy it, right?
2. If I can, I should do the conversion to US dollars by hand. Is it correct?
3. I want to sell a stock but I'm not quite sure how to input in my transaction record. Right now I just put a negative sign before the amount earned. Is it correct or is there a better way to handle it?

Date: 2011-01-14 03:35 am (UTC)2. If you can do the conversion automatically, do so! If you need any help with the conversions, let me know.
3. What you've done looks correct. I'm going to have to think about what to do in the top part of the spreadsheet. That's a REALLY impressive gain in price! Well picked!
