Hey :) The two companies I was looking at earlier in the month have not done what I wanted price wise and I haven't had time to do much in the way of research to find others I like (we had a death in the family and things have been a bit crazy) and now I am running out of January! So I saw a few people think this one is worth buying, and had a quick look at their website - they look good, I like that they are helping the environment and the locals! So I'm just jumping on the band wagon so I dont have to worry about this any more this month, I'll get back into things properly next month :)

Oh, it should be noted: because google doesn't support ETR as an exchange, at the moment we can't do automatic price updates. So if you want to see progress between the price you bought it at, etc, please just update your sheet under the current price column.

I'm sorry about this. We're working on a solution

Hi, I don't seem to be able to use the transaction form - it gets to a Moderator Options page and tells me I'm required to fill in those questions. I already told it my name once, I don't think I should be putting my name into a box labelled "Moderator: Your name."

Also, not having heard anything to the contrary, I have been merrily buying stuff at all hours.

You might not believe this, but I had figured out, and made note of, where the decimal point gets put, and it was part of why I thought hey, sink a few quid in this... and then my brain fritzed. Ayiyi.

Okay, I think I feel brave enough to try and correct that now. Thank you for being encouraging.

The markets being closed is NO PROBLEM. You just buy at the last recorded price. What happens in real life if you do that is the transactions are processed as soon as the market opens, before the price changes.

1. my spreadsheet hasn't been updated with this transaction yet - I'm not sure if I'm supposed to do it myself as I did my first couple and got a note saying I was doing all your work for you, lol! Do I wait for you to do it or go ahead and fill it in?
2. I just now filled in the transaction form in case that was a better way to get it done than commenting here - I thought I remembered being gmt-8, but I just checked and I am gmt+10 oops! Sorry, think I got the rest of the form right though.
3. I know earlier in game play you put up how much we had to spend in our currency, but I can't find where it was :( I think AU it was $151.??? but couldn't remember exactly, so if my buy needs to be altered slightly to fit the amount of money I have left to spend then please do so :)
4. Do you prefer the form or the comment in here for transactions or are we supposed to do both each time?

thanks :)

Sorry! It's Australia day and I've been out. I'll get to it tomorrow.

It doesn't really matter about the time.

You chose monthly conversions in the poll. That means you take your conversion rates from this poll. (The monthly conversion figures. $150 US= $167.16 AUD for January)

I'm... supposed to check the form every day? But I don't get email notifications of that and I do of comments here, so just a comment saying "Bought shares, in the form" would be great.

I figured ;)
hey with the ATP.AX I can see it has very low volume, no-one has bought any at all since noon on the 25th and it looks like thats a fairly normal state for them, not to have much buying or selling going on. Does that mean maybe its not the best thing for me to have bought as with low volume then there's not going to be much demand to push the price up? Am I understanding that right??

jamethiel: Money! (Money)
From: [personal profile] jamethiel
Honestly, I originally bought ATP.AX but they've turned out to be a bit of a lemon. I think they will go up, and I like the cut of their jib as a company, but I think it's something you have sitting in the back of a cupboard as a longterm investment, whereas here we're necessarily limited by the term of the game.

As an investment? Consider GrainCorp, because they've taken a hit at the moment due to floods but I think they're going to rise (GNC.AX). ComputerShare (CPU.AX) are another stock to consider but I believe they're falling at the moment and haven't hit rock bottom yet, so I'll be waiting for them to do that.

I'm keeping an eye on Riversdale Mining (RIV.AX), but won't be investing unless they fall substantially. I wish I'd invested five months ago :S

Beyond that, I've "invested" in the reject shop. They revised their profit projections which caused the stock to take a BIG tumble, but it'd been climbing pretty steadily and I believe it can recover, given time.

TL;DR, right? I'd be happy to verse ATP.AX for you if you want.

Used the form. Slight weirdness -- Aer Lingus shares sometimes seem to be called AERL, and sometimes EIL1? LSE and Google agree on the AERL, so I used that, but I actually got official closing price from the ISE website, ISE.ie, since that's where I wanted to "buy" from -- but you seem to have to use the whole company name, not ticker. IDEK.

(Shares bought because I feel I ought to, also because Aer Lingus has taken me some nice places. *g*)
